Ostseetour 2021
The Friends Association has invited the MDR Children's Choir to the Baltic Sea coast for 2021. We will cover travel expenses and other costs to support the choir camp in the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park and concerts.

With this trip, the choir continues a tradition that began shortly after its founding.
So in 1959, Boltenhagen was visited, rehearsals were held and songs were sung.
Even today, choir members remember that you earned the "Advanced Swimmer" badge on your choir trip.
For this, one had to swim in the Baltic Sea for up to 45 minutes during the assessment.
If there is enough time between rehearsals in 2021, it is possible that this year too - as in previous swimming events -
A swimming badge must be obtained.
Back then, people stayed overnight at the Mathias Thesen camp. Email didn't exist yet. Letters or Postcards
(Example) or postcards sent.

In 1961, the trip led to the choir camp in Binz.
We spent the night at Granitz hunting lodge.
A trip started from Sassnitz to Trelleborg and ended with a surprise.
The choir experienced the division of Germany while still on the ship.
The choir's founder, Hans Sandig, had a real knack for selecting music for the open-air stages by the sea.
The work song of the sailors and dockworkers, Donkey Riding, was part of the choir's regular repertoire for several decades.
Donkey Riding was sung in a German version.
Even though similar events are not expected on excursions in 2021, some surprises are already planned!
