The summer festival is the annual highlight event, organized by the choir and the circle of friends.
We celebrate our summer festival together with friends, parents, grandparents, relatives and guests.
Here you also get to know people who have supported the choir for many years as alumni or patrons.
For several hours, the summer festival focuses on singing, games & fun, as well as small competitions and the exchange within the choir family.

Note: Entry to the respective facilities is free for registered choir children and their accompanying adults. All participants who have not registered by August 23, 2026, should pay the regular admission price at the ticket office in the entrance area.

Summer Festival 2019 - 120 participants
The summer festival took place at the Schreberbad swimming pool in the center of Leipzig. The entire pool area was available to us for a joint competition with several relay teams.

The event was jointly prepared by Choraktiv and the Freundeskreis mdr-Kinderchor eV.
Summer Festival 2017 - over 100 participants
The 2017 summer festival took place a week after our tent camp in Leipzig's Friedenspark. Besides singing together, various games were organized. The barbecue was also used extensively. Many children and parents contributed to the picnic. The weather was perfect. Over 100 people attended.
Summer Festival 2016 - over 150 participants
The 2016 summer festival (150 choir children and guests) and the subsequent bootcamp for the concert choir were held in perfect weather conditions. We hope everyone enjoyed singing on the beach and participating in the other activities.
After the summer festival, the choir members from the concert choir went to a boot camp on a whitewater course. Some took a musical tour across Lake Markkleeberg and found the right rhythm while paddling. An evening swim was part of the preparation for bedtime. A musical hike to the beach and some sports and beach games started the morning at camp.
Many thanks to all partners, supporters, and members of the Friends' Association who financially and materially secured and oversaw the 2016 summer festival. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the choir members from Choraktiv and the parents who helped us with the event.
We would like to thank all MDR employees who also supported us in the process.
We were delighted that the parents pitched in with setting up and taking down the equipment at the boot camp. A big thank you to all the external helpers at the boot camp. We also extend our gratitude to the partners and club members who provided material and financial support for the boot camp.
During the subsequent bootcamp, a trip on whitewater and on Lake Markkleeberg was a special experience for the concert choir.
Summer Festival 2015 - Leipzig Leutzsch 70 participants
The summer festival took place in 2015 at a riding stable in Leutzsch. In addition to horseback riding on the farm, activities such as football were offered on a neighboring playground. Over 70 participants were counted.
